Fabulous at Forty: Sun City Oro Valley Turns 40!

Grab your dancing shoes and your appetite — Sun City Oro Valley is turning 40, and we're throwing a party big enough to match four decades of great neighbors, great memories, and great living. Planning is officially underway for Fabulous at Forty, a six-week celebration packed with parades, parties, prizes, and probably a little too much cake.

Over the past forty years, this community has grown from a bold idea into a vibrant, welcoming place thousands of us are proud to call home. Now it's time to celebrate that milestone together — and we need every resident in on the fun.

The celebration runs January 2 – February 13, 2027. Here's what's shaping up:

Special Events & Entertainment 

Six weeks of entertainment, crafts, social gatherings, and club-sponsored activities — most free for residents, with a few ticketed extras sprinkled in.

Opening Day — January 2, 2027 We're kicking things off in style with a parade down the main streets of Sun City Oro Valley, followed by a free barbecue picnic catered by The Views Restaurant, plus assorted activities to get the party started. We're also angling to close out opening night with a fireworks display — because forty years deserves a bang.

Six Weeks of Festivities From there, expect a rotating lineup of games, entertainment, club activities, and — yes — tea parties, all designed to give every resident a reason to get out and celebrate.

Grand Finale — February 13, 2027 We're going out in style: a brunch, a formal Gala reception, dinner with food stations, the closing bell on our online auction, and maybe a 50/50 raffle for good measure. We're also exploring an acrobatic exhibit to send the celebration off with a genuine "wow." Break out the good outfit.

Auctions, Raffles & Prizes 

Bid, win, and support the celebration all at once. We're lining up an online auction, a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, and other prize drawings, with some genuinely exciting items up for grabs. Details and participation links will be shared as soon as they're ready — stay tuned.

Community Stories

In early January 2027, keep an eye out for a special Tipster feature chronicling the founding days of Sun City Oro Valley and the growth that got us here. Equal parts history lesson and love letter to the community.

Sponsorship & Donations

Fabulous at Forty runs on community generosity — we're seeking support from local business donors and sponsors, and a memorial donation form [link] is available for residents who'd like to contribute in honor of a loved one. Donor recognition will be featured prominently on our website [link] and other community media. Information on how to help with donor outreach is coming soon.

Commemorative Merchandise 

Mark the milestone with exclusive 40th Anniversary merchandise and a commemorative keepsake book featuring resident stories, interviews with community pioneers, and historic photographs.

Also arriving later in 2026: a full-length book on Sun City Oro Valley's forty-year history, written by resident Jim Williams. One for the coffee table.
